AboutLisa Edelstein was born in Boston, Mass., in 1966 to a pediatrician father and social worker mother. She was a cheerleader for Donald Trump’s New Jersey Generals football team and at just 16 years old, the young girl organized a protest because the cheerleaders were forced to stand in bars.
Edelstein moved to New York City to study at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and became famous as a fixture in the club scene, being dubbed New York City’s “Queen of the Night.”
After the New York Times called the young rebel a “celebutante,” Edelstein wrote and starred in a musical called Positive Me, which received many accolades. After numerous guest roles on shows like Mad About You and Seinfeld, bigger roles followed until 2004 when the actress was cast in her most notable role to date, as the sassy Dr. Lisa Cuddy in Fox’s TV series, House.
The actress starred as the lead role of Abby McCarthy in the Bravo series, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.
Besides acting, Edelstein has posed in an ad for PETA promoting vegetarianism and is a passionate supporter of Best Friends Animal Society.
In May 2014, the actress married artist Robert Russell.
